Educational curriculum of this Master degree program is organized in Credit System. Total study load of this program are 38 - 44 credits including thesis for four academic semesters (2 years). Lectures and other academic activities are conducted with the guidance of qualified lecturers, and is held in the Graduate Building Building of Andalas University Campus Unand Limau Manis Padang.

Semester I : four compulsary and one elective subjects = 13 credits

(a) four compulsary subjects = 11 credits

  1. Concepts and Principles of INRM (3 cr)
  2. Economic Principles of NRM(3 cr)
  3. Quantitative Research Design for NRM (2 cr)
  4. Ecological Principles of NRM (3 cr)

(b) Elective courses (choose one = 2 cr)

  1. Integrated Water Resources Management (2 cr)
  2. Introduction to Gender and Natural Resources Management (2 cr)

Semester II : four compulsary, one elective subjects = 12 credits

(a) four compulsary subjects = 9 credits

  1. Spatial Analysis for NRM (3 cr)
  2. Legal Pluralism and Laws in NRM (2 cr)
  3. Qualitative Research Methods for NRM (2 (cr)
  4. INRM Planning and Policy (2 cr)

   (b) Elective subjects (choose one = 3 cr)

  1. Advance Hydrology for IWRM (3 cr)
  2. Gender Sensitive Research Methodology (3 cr)

Semester III : two compulsary and two elective subjects = 12 credits

(a) two compulsary subjects = 3 credits

  1. Colloquium Research Proposal (1 cr)
  2. Directed Independent Study (2 cr)

(c) three electives subjects = 9 credits

  1. Modelling on WRM (3 cr)
  2. Gender, Culture and Sustainable Livelihoods(3 cr)
  3. Gender, Politic and Environmental Justice (3 cr)
  4. Natural Resources Conservation (3 cr)
  5. Environmental Impact Assessment (3 cr)

 

Semester IV : two compulsary subjects = 7 credits

  1. Seminar of thesis (1 cr)
  2. Thesis (6 cr)

Students who are not coming from relevant study program of their undergraduate degree, may be assigned to take Matriculation course for these two subjects:

  1. Statistic (2 cr)
  2. Reading relevant studies (2 cr)

The Master degree program in Biotechnology at Andalas University aims to produce graduates who have the following qualifications:

  1. Able to develop new concepts in the field of science through research in biotechnology, especially in the field of natural resources.
  2. Able to carry out, organize, and lead research programs in Biotechnology.
  3. Able to take an interdisciplinary approach to the application of his expertise professionally in Biotechnology.
