Kunjungan SEARCA pada Program Pascasarjana Unand pada hari Jum'at, 9 Desember 2016 yang dihadiri oleh Direktur Program Pascasarjana Unand Prof.Dr.Ir. Rudi Febriamansyah, M.Sc, Wakil Rektor II Prof. Dr. Ir. Asdi Agustar, M.S dan rombongan beserta mahasiswa Program Pascasarjana Universitas Andalas.

SEARCA (Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture) adalah Program Beasiswa untuk S2 dan S3.Beasiswa ini lebih dikenal dengan SEARCA Graduate Scholarship for Southeast Asians di mana sasaran utamanya adalah kandidat yang berasal dari Asia Tenggara. Program yang ditawarkan adalah pertanian serta beberapa bidang studi terkait, seperti ilmu biologi, perikanan, ilmu lingkungan, statistik, kehutanan, dan ilmu-ilmu sosial. 

Adapun beberapa pilihan Universitas untuk melanjutkan S2 atau S3 dengan Beasiswa SEARCA adalah :

▪ Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Yogyakarta, Indonesia
▪ Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Selangor, Malaysia
▪ Kasetsart University (KU), Bangkok, Thailand
▪ University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), Laguna, Philippines
▪ University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD), Quezon City, Philippines
▪ University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), Iloilo, Philippines

Penerima beasiswa SEARCA  akan memperoleh tanggungan full biaya studi yang melipui uang saku, biaya kuliah, tunjangan perjalanan internasional dan domestik, dukungan tesis/disertasi, tunjangan buku, serta asuransi kesehatan.

Program Studi Pembangunan Perumahan dan Permukiman (PERKIM) adalah merupakan program studi magister satu-satunya di indonesia yang merupakan mandat dari Kementerian Perumahan Rakyat yang dimandatkan ke Program Pascasarjana Universitas Andalas.

Saat ini Program Studi Magister Pembangunan Perumahan dan Permukiman sedang memprioritaskan penyelesaian penyusunan Borang Akreditasi yang merupakan salah satu pokok utama dari agenda kegiatan Prodi S2 Perkim di tahun 2016, karena dengan terlaksananya penyusunan Borang Akreditasi ini akan menjadikan Program Studi S2 Perkim  semakin banyak peminatnya  dan juga semakin banyak kerjasama yang dapat dijalin baik dengan instansi pemerintahan maupun dengan pihak swasta.

Pada tanggal 8 Desember 2016 Program Studi S2 PERKIM kembali mengadakan rapat Tim Penyusunan Borang Akreditasi Prograam studi yang dihadiri oleh Wakil direktur II Program Pascasarjana Universitas Andalas dan sekaligus menjadi tim dalam Penyusunan Borang akreditasi S2 PERKIM. Dalam pertemuan Rapat Tim akreditasi ini disepakati penyelesaian Penyusunan Borang kareditasi Akan difinal Pada Pertengahan Bulan Desember 2016.

In the year of 2025, becomes a leading educational institution of master degree in Indonesia which has great role in Academic Network at National and International level, especially in the processing aspect of biotechnology of natural resources and genetic resources of West Sumatra.

1. Implementing three pillars of higher education in order to produce graduates who are intelligent, qualified, faithful and able to compete in the global era.
2. Developing the educational program of biotechnology science that is suitable with the current and the future economic development through the application of advance technologies, especially for the tropical region of Sumatra.
3. Focusing research on finding solution for the problem of utilization and conservation of tropical natural resources in the region, supported by the position of Sumatra that is located on the equator.
4. Seeking technology transfer to the public who engaged in biotechnological practices in forms of the management, utilization and the preservation of genetic

• Objectives of the Program
  This Study program aims to produce the graduates which have the following competences :
  • Able to identify and synthesize the problem of managing housing and settlements comprehensively,
  • Able to analyze those problems in the context of participatory, transparence, effective-efficiency, accountable and measurable to achieve the sustainability of the implementation of housing and settlements.
  • Able to develop and formulate appropriate and better housing and settlement policies and strategies.
  • Able to cooperate in the process of organizing housing and settlements, through a process of productive interaction between stakeholders.
